| Fernwood Forest is a secluded, wooded area at the entrance to the Valley. From here, the great Fernwood stretches its countless branches to the sky. Even in the age of settlers, this mighty forest was always revered, almost as an entity. Logging has long been done sustainably, at the edges of the great forest, a green thicket so dense few people know of the wonders it holds.
There's a legend of a fairly named Ariel that appears in a clearing in the woods on moonlit nights. Fernwood is public lands, protected from development. The only construction in the area, besides the bus stop that takes people to and from the Big City, is on the small island adjacent to the forest, called Crag Holm. There stands the ruins of the ancient Fernwood Castle.
